Doppler & GLOBAL RECYCLING DAY

On the occasion of Global Recycling Day, Doppler, a modern and innovative elevator manufacturing company, reaffirms its commitment to the principles of the circular economy and sustainable development.
Although there is a common perception that industrial activities, such as elevator manufacturing, are highly polluting, the reality is different. Doppler’s compliance with strict environmental protocols and certifications makes it a model for sustainable industry.
As Doppler’s Production Director, Mr. Leonidas Maragkos, states: “Our goal is to actively contribute to reducing our environmental footprint through targeted recycling initiatives and responsible management of natural resources.”

Recycling Everywhere

“As an industry that extensively uses metals, we place great emphasis on recycling metal waste (scrap) from our production process. All metal remnants are collected and recycled, reducing raw material waste,” emphasizes Mr. Maragkos.
He also highlights that “at the same time, we implement a paper recycling program across all our facilities, ensuring that every printed sheet is fully utilized before being recycled.”

Harnessing Renewable Energy

“Sustainability is at the heart of our strategy,” says Mr. Maragkos. “With the installation of photovoltaic systems in our facilities for the past two years, we utilize solar energy to reduce electricity consumption from conventional sources. At the same time, we invest in energy-efficient technologies for our machinery, reducing carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions.”

Natural Resources & Responsible Use

Recognizing the importance of water as a natural resource, Mr. Maragkos explains: “We implement conservation practices at every stage of our production. By using advanced water purification and recycling methods in our industrial processes, we ensure waste reduction and pollution prevention. Additionally, we utilize boreholes to supply water for machinery, minimizing the use of potable water. Finally, for materials that cannot be recycled, such as glass and certain synthetic substances, we follow strict disposal procedures in specially licensed areas, ensuring minimal environmental impact and proper waste management.”

A Greener Industry Than You Think!

Despite the widespread belief that heavy industry is incompatible with sustainability, Doppler proves that innovation and environmental responsibility can coexist. Our production processes now comply with international environmental certifications, such as ISO 14001 for environmental impact management, and we adopt practices that make the elevator industry more eco-friendly than many others.

Doppler remains committed to investing in green technologies and leading the change towards a more responsible industry, creating a more sustainable world for future generations.
